The Pacific Coast to be exact. Or a PC800 if you want to get technical. Pretty much since the day I got my XT200 I’ve been thinking about what my “next bike” would be.

There are sooooo many options out there. Even in within the 3,000 dollar budget I’ve constricted myself too.

Bigger enduros, and middle weight ADVs have an obvious appeal to me. But after riding my friends cruiser, a GS1100L, I’ve decided I want something with a standard seating position and a low seat height. I also want to keep my little XT200 for short blast around town, and offroad fun which is where that bike really shines. It’s light weight, and limited power make it great for both, but anymore than 10 miles on the highway is a stressful 56mph chore. Also it had basically no real cargo options aside from building my ownCustom rear rack, or side bag supports

So my check list for my next bike are stander riding position, lots of cargo room, great highway comfort and power, and I’d really like it to be a color, or white. Me bike that check all of that is the Honda PC800.

It’s looks are greatly debated but personally I love it. Especially on bright red. Even if it does look like a baby gold wing. To me it has a peak 90s JDM look about it. Especially that tailight bar that reminds me of a last gen Mazda Cosmo. Altho I think it was deigned in America, in the 80s. And it has a full blown Trunk. One review said it can cary 3 bags of groceries in each side. Or a 24 back of beer, or a helmet.

Kinja'd!!!

Other characteristics gleemed fro reviews are It’s low center of gravity thank to it low center mounted gas tank, and it’s low RPM torquey V twin. I don’t really want a peaky high RPM sport bike.

I’m a dangerous idiot and I don’t want a ton of power lol. But I do want a sleek looking bike that will let me cruise at 75 with a weekends worth of luggage if I need too.

Right now there are several for sale near me for 2000-2500 Bucks which is a price I can stomach.

So what do you guys think?

Oh one more thing. Here’s a 1989 ad for the PC. in a warm out VHS quality.

I like it.

( I know very little about bikes)

It really does look like a baby Gold-wing. That tail light is hideous and I love it. Distinct, functional, and 80s as hell.

I chuckled when I saw it had a trunk, but I can see how that’s incredibly useful

I love it. I've read some reviews by moto bloggers and they absolutely gushed over these things. Seems like a cult classic status?

Could be a cult classic. I’d better get one before  people notice. Lol I was surprised to find that they’re some what rare. I’ve always been able to find a few for sale.

Arguably the later detachable side bags on later Honda tourers like The ST are more useful because the double as your actual luggage. But I like the trunk more.

Before you declare your love it’s always a good idea to sit on the bike.

Might want to spray those wide hips with a pressurized stream from a hose.  Clever ain’t so clever when your spare clothes and electronics are wet.  Really give any bike you plan to take long distances a hard look.

I would love to have a trunk on mine. That looks pretty sleek too.

the PC800 is just a cruiser bike. its slow as shit, and a bit ponderous. but you can rig a cruise control and sit at 80mp h for like 3 days on end.

See that’s what I want!

Altho I do think it would be worth it to try out a Sport tourer first. A Concourse or ST1100. A friend of mine has a ST1300, which I should try on for size.

I have the CBF1000 as my ST bike (little bit lighter and more sport, but I have a full luggage set for it)

I can stick that bike in 6th and cruise at 40. 60. 80. 100. 120. the bike reacts and sits the EXACT same way.

You might also want to look at the Honda ST1100? Same type of bike but a bit newer and they don’t command the same cult premium as the Pacific Coast. Kawasaki had a bike in that segment too called the Concours.

If your mindset is on a cruiser don’t worry about sport touring.  Being able to grab a handful of throttle at 80 without all that weight on back throwing the front wheel up is a good thing when you are learning.  Good dependable bike that won’t strand you or constantly require repair is a good thing.

I’ve ridden an ST not a fan of the sportier ridding position. But I do plan on ridding my buddies St1300 again  before I buy anything, last time I dint have my license yet so I didn’t get it on the open road.
